Update on CASW’s position on anti-homosexuality bill in Uganda.
I received an email today about the CASW‘s position on this bill today. It was so great to be able to say that I am in support of my association’s position on this. I also found the Facebook page: Speak out against Uganda’s Anti-Homosexuality Bill 2009 and joined.
Anti-homosexuality bill
Although I agree we need to respect territorial boundaries and cultural differences the Ugandan government’s position that homosexuality presents a threat to their society is fundamentally opposed to international human rights. I also believe this will result in significant threats against people who are identified as lesbian and gay in Uganda. I hope you agree and will join me in sharing your concerns with the NASWU.
