SWAN
I had a great conversation with my thesis supervisor this week about resources on the web and she informed me that SWAN is going international and that there will soon be an online resource here in Canada that is linked with this initiative. I had heard of the Social Work Access Action Network, but confused the UK network with an earlier website that USC used to host. I found this network over ten years ago with resources such as a listservs and so on. I just discovered 404 – Component not found at http://cosw.sc.edu/swan/usenet.html.
Though the University of Texas has adopted this acronym for their social work alumni association, SWAN is also thriving in the hands of some UK social workers and academics! Check out the video about this project and please give serious consideration, if you aren’t already a member, to signing up at the website.
Hard to believe, but the network is already three years on. There are also some podcasts from the 2009 conference about the network. SWAN is also on twitter @SWANsocialwork.
